Yucky Worms – One Of The Ten Top Videos of the Year – School Library Journal

In its first ever survey of the Ten Top Videos of the Year, School Library Journal has honored Yucky Worms one of the best in 2011. Here’s what SLJ had to say:

In Vivian French’s fascinating Yucky Worms, a young boy learns about these creatures from his grandmother. Featuring Scott Nilson’s marvelous narration and Jessica Ahlberg’s expressive pencil-and-gouache illustrations, which appear to move as the camera pans in and out, this kid-friendly DVD presents an intriguing close-up of worm anatomy and cool wormy facts.

Dori Chacones’s lively rhyming story of cause and effect describes the hilarious chaos that ensues when the front door is slammed shut! The author narrates her story and provides a personal insights for young children.

WHITE WATER – Michael Bandy and Eric Stein
Based on the childhood experiences of Michael Bandy, this inspiring story written with Eric Stein is set in the South at the dawn of the civil rights movement when everyone still drank from “White” and “Colored” water fountains.
